Mumbai Indians have finally achieved their first win in IPL 2024. It defeated Delhi Capitals by 29 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in the match played on 7 April. Batting first, MI scored 234 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, Delhi Capitals team could score only 205 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated overs.

The credit for this victory of Mumbai Indians goes to the bowlers as much as to the batsmen. Especially Gerald Coetzee and Jasprit Bumrah, who took a total of 6 wickets. Bumrah took two important wickets giving just 22 runs in a spell of four overs.

Jasprit Bumrah made Delhi batsman Prithvi Shaw, who was batting brilliantly, his victim in his second over. Bumrah bowled Shaw with an excellent yorker. Prithvi Shaw scored 66 runs in 40 balls, which included 8 fours and three sixes. After this, Bumrah gave another blow to Mumbai at the crucial juncture of the match. He showed Abhishek Porel the way to the pavilion. Porel scored 41 runs in 31 balls.

Talking about the match, Rohit Sharma (49), Ishan Kishan (42), Hardik Pandya (39), Tim David (45*) and Romario Shepherd played explosive innings of 39* runs for Mumbai and the team scored 234 runs. Reached till. In response, Tristan Stubbs and Prithvi Shaw played innings of 71* and 66 runs respectively for Delhi. But the team could score only 205 runs.
