Bumrah’s main weapon is the yorker, which he uses cleverly in the last overs
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee believes that apart from Jasprit Bumrah, most of the pacers are struggling to bowl effective yorkers in the death overs. Talking about the importance of the yorker, Brett Lee said that Bumrah is currently one of the most complete bowlers in world cricket.
Bumrah (Jasprit Bumrah) can bowl a wicket-taking delivery without giving away any runs. But the yorker is his main weapon, which he uses cleverly in the last overs.
“As a general rule, apart from Bumrah we haven’t seen enough fast bowlers bowl yorkers lately. I would like to see fast bowlers bowl more yorkers. I still don’t think they bowl enough yorkers in the death overs,” Brett Lee said at the launch of the Legends Intercontinental T20 League recently.
I am all for batsmen, but…
The former fast bowler further said that, if you look at the 17 seasons of IPL, on average a yorker has a strike rate of less than 100. Which indicates that there is one run or less per ball. Now, when you bowl a yorker, the batsman can hit a shot through the scoop. This puts pressure on the bowler. Then you have to set the right field. Have to keep two people at the back, third man and fine leg and then bowl.
He concluded by saying, I am all for the batsmen, but there should be something for the bowlers as well. I am not asking for a green top where teams get bowled out for 110 runs because that is not good for cricket either. I think you want a good score. A score of around 185 to 230 is a good score. We have seen scores of 265, 270, 277 now. These are really difficult because most bowlers concede 45 to 50 runs in a four-over spell.
Sourav Ganguly defends Gautam Gambhir’s sharp comment on panting, know what Dada said?
The market of rhetoric is hot before the start of BGT between India and Australia. Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir (Image Credit- Twitter X) Cricket fans around the world are eagerly waiting for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) starting from 22nd November. On the other hand, statements are being made continuously by former cricketers before the start of this much-awaited series. In this sequence, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting had expressed concern about former captain and Virat Kohli, who is out of form in Test cricket these days. On this statement of Ponting, the current head coach of the Indian team and former opener Gautam Gambhir had said that he should stop worrying about Kohli’s form and focus on the Australian team. On the other hand, Gambhir has now got the support of former Indian captain and Sourav Ganguly, popularly known as Dada, on this statement. Ganguly says that there is nothing wrong in whatever Gambhir said. Sourav Ganguly defended Gautam Gambhir’s statement Let us tell you that in a recent discussion with Revzsports, Ganguly said – I would just say that let him be. I saw some criticism on what he said in the press conference. He (Gambhir) is like that, let him remain like that. When he won the IPL, it was just like that, you were rooting for him. Just because he has lost three Test matches and one ODI series, the straight thing has not been viewed well. But that’s just the way it is. Ganguly further said- Ever since I have watched cricket, Australians have been difficult for you. He has played his cricket like this, be it (Steve) Waugh, Ponting or (Matthew) Hayden. Therefore, there is nothing wrong in what Gambhir has said. That’s just the way he is, and he fights, he competes. So let’s give him a chance. He has been in coaching only for two-three months and you are passing judgment on him.
