Next month, the Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to host England in a 3-match home Test series. However, now some media reports are claiming that due to the construction work currently going on in Pakistan’s cricket stadium, the series may be shifted to Sri Lanka or UAE.

It is worth noting that these three Test matches are included in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC), which is going to be important for England along with Pakistan. The first match of this series will be played from October 7 in Multan, the second Test match in Karachi and the third Test match in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

However, now due to the construction work going on in the stadiums of the country, due to hosting the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, this series between Pakistan and England can be transferred to another country. At the same time, there is little chance that this series can shift to UAE, because the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is going to be held in UAE between 3 and 20 October.

Moreover, the arrival of England’s Barmy Army fan group is posing another problem, and hosting the matches without crowds is not a feasible option for the PCB.

Now it will be interesting to see which venues the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finalises for these matches. Also, after some time, PCB can share information about the new venues after talking to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

It is worth noting that recently Pakistan has faced defeat in the two-match home Test series against Bangladesh. This is the first time in Bangladesh Test cricket history that they have won against Pakistan in a series. It will be interesting to see how the Pak team is going to perform in the upcoming Test series against England after this humiliating defeat?
