The Pakistan team, which went to England to play the T20 series to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, failed. The team lost 2-0 in the four-match series. Two matches were canceled due to rain, but in the remaining two matches the host team defeated Babar Azam’s team. Former Pakistan cricketer Rameez Raja is angry after this defeat. Former PCB chairman Rameez Raja has criticized the team management and expressed concern over experimentation in the Pakistan team.
Pakistan team was completely destroyed
Rameez Raja criticized the team management on his YouTube channel and said, “They should stop experimenting with the team. They should go into the match with the right team. You have to get rid of the fear of strike rate, because you do not have such players. You have ruined this team.”
Rameez Raja criticized the decision to field young batsman Saim Ayub as an opener
Rameez Raja said, “You have destroyed the team by breaking the opening pair (of Babar and Rizwan). The role of the middle order is also not suitable. You have all-rounders in the middle and two wicketkeepers are playing. You are changing fast bowlers. Your spinners do not spin the ball and they lack confidence. You dropped Imad Wasim from the playing XI. There is no movement from any side and you have completely destroyed the team before the T20 World Cup.”
Sam Ayub proved to be a flop
Saim Ayub struggled to find form initially in the recent T20 series against New Zealand. However, he showed a lot of improvement by scoring a quick 45 runs off 29 balls in the first match. In four matches against New Zealand, the 21-year-old Ayub scored 52 runs at an average of 14.25 and his highest score in the series was 32 runs.
Before Ayub joined the team, Babar and Rizwan were playing as openers for the Pakistan team, who are considered to be one of the best openers in T20 International. Babar and Rizwan batted brilliantly during the last T20 World Cup played in the year 2022. Their three century opening partnerships were also seen in this tournament.
