Team India has made a great start in the Test series against Bangladesh. India played great cricket at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 19 September and after four days of play, the team managed to register a victory of 280 runs. After this victory, Team India managed to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Pant scored a century in the second innings of the first Test match, while he also made an important contribution in the first innings.
The last Test match of the two-match series is to be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27. Rishabh Pant also played his last Test series against Bangladesh. Team India went on a tour of Bangladesh in late 2022. After returning from there, Pant’s car had a terrible accident while going to his home. Former Team India cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that Pant is not in his prime form yet, yet he is the biggest match winner of Team India.
Mohammad Kaif gave a big statement in praise of Rishabh Pant
In an interview to Times of India, Kaif said, ‘When the England team came to India, Rishabh Pant was not in the team. Pant, who comes to bat at number five or six, is the biggest match winner for Team India at this position. He has played many match-winning innings. No one can forget his innings at Gabba. He has scored centuries in difficult conditions in South Africa and England.’
Kaif further said, ‘Talking about stats, I think Pant is the best wicketkeeper batsman for Test cricket. No one in the Indian think tank thinks about anyone other than Rishabh Pant. His best is yet to come. When he turns 27, his batting will improve further and then he will hit his prime form. Rishabh Pant’s best is yet to come, especially in Test cricket.’
It is worth noting that Pant has also equaled former India captain MS Dhoni’s record for scoring the most Test centuries for India as a wicketkeeper, with both players having six centuries to their name. Pant achieved this feat in 34 Test matches, scoring 2419 runs so far, while Dhoni, who played 90 Tests in his entire career, scored 4876 runs and scored six centuries.
