The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently decided that it is going to use Kookaburra balls for domestic Test matches. After this decision of the PCB, in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle 2023-25, the Pakistan cricket team will be seen playing a total of 7 Test matches on home soil with the Kookaburra ball.

In these seven matches, Pakistan has proposed 2 Test matches against Bangladesh, 3 against England and 2 against West Indies. The Pak team will be seen playing all these Test matches in August, October and early next year.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board will continue to use Duke balls for the senior team for domestic cricket seasons and tournaments. Also, let us tell you that the PCB has taken this decision after a well-analyzed research based on the condition of the home ground and pitch.

Apart from this, when it comes to grassroot level and junior cricket, PCB will be seen using Aceline and Greys balls. These balls will cover all types of matches of Pakistan’s Under-13, Under-17 and Under-19 teams.

PCB took this decision after the appointment of Tony Hemming

It is worth noting that recently the Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Australia’s renowned pitch curator Tony Hemming as the head curator of PCB. So the pitches will be prepared under the supervision of Hemming for Pakistan’s domestic as well as international cricket schedule of 2024-25.

However, before the construction of the pitches, the head curator advised the board to insist on changing the ball according to the format, so that along with the experience of the fans, quality cricket can also develop. Also, there is a possibility that the kind of pitch Hamming is going to make in the coming time, there will be an equal balance between ball and bat.
