The pair of Rohit and Dravid have played 3 finals of ICC tournaments in the last 13 months.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma made his international cricket debut in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. Seeing Rohit’s game, he got a chance to play for the Indian team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007 that year.
However, due to lack of consistency in performance, he kept getting in and out of the Indian team. But when Dhoni started sending him as an opener in 2013, a great change was seen in his game. After this change, he emerged as one of the best openers in white ball cricket.
So Dravid has closely seen Rohit’s development as a player and leader. Both of them worked together in the Indian cricket team between the T20 World Cup 2021 and June 2024. While Dravid was the head coach of Team India, Rohit was playing the role of captain.
Also, in the last 13 months, Team India has played 3 ICC finals under the leadership of both. After winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Dravid’s tenure with Team India ended. On the other hand, now Rahul Dravid has made a big statement about Rohit’s development as a player and a leader.
Rahul Dravid gave a big statement about Rohit Sharma
Let us tell you that 51-year-old Dravid said about Rohit as quoted by BCCI- I really enjoyed working with Rohit. He is the person I knew as a young boy. I have seen him grow as a person and a leader.
Dravid further said- He has been able to contribute to the team as a player and leader in the last 10 or 12 years. This is a true tribute to his game, because the effort and time he has given to Indian cricket is incomparable. I enjoy knowing him as a person.
