The second semi-final match of the ongoing season of Ranji Trophy was played between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy, BKC. Let us tell you that in this match, Mumbai has made it to the final of Ranji Trophy for the 47th time by defeating Tamil Nadu in a one-sided manner by an innings and 70 runs.

All-rounder Shardul Thakur was awarded the Player of the Match award for his excellent performance in the match. Shardul played a brilliant inning of 109 runs for Mumbai in the first innings, then gave two early blows to Tamil Nadu in the second innings in bowling, pushing the team on the backfoot.

So if we tell you about the match in detail, Tamil Nadu won the toss and decided to bat first, which proved to be completely wrong for them. Tamil Nadu’s first innings was reduced to just 146 runs in 64.1 overs in front of Mumbai’s excellent bowling.

Vijay Shankar 44 and Washington Sundar 43 were the top scorers for the team in the first innings. So from Mumbai side, Tushar Deshpande took 3 wickets, Musheer Khan, Tanush Kotian and Shardul Thakur took 2 wickets each. Apart from this, Mohit Awasthi also got 1 wicket.

After this, when Mumbai came to bat in the first innings, its batting faltered at one time, but in the end, thanks to the brilliant innings of 109 runs by Shardul Thakur and 89* runs by Tanush Kotian, the team scored 378 runs and won over Tamil Nadu on the basis of first innings. Took a strong lead of 232 runs.

After this, when Tamil Nadu came to bat in the second innings, apart from Baba Indrajit’s 70 runs, no other player could score more runs. And the entire team was all out for 162 runs and lost the match by an innings and 70 runs. Players like Sai Sudarshan (5), N Jagadees (0) and Washington Sundar (4) proved to be unsuccessful in the second innings of Tamil Nadu.
