Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother Musheer Khan (Musheer Khan) has created history by scoring a century in the final of Ranji Trophy 2024. He has broken the 29-year-old record of great batsman Sachin Tendulkar and became the youngest player to score a century for Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy final.

On the third day of play, Musheer completed his century in 255 balls. He scored this century at the age of 19 years and 14 days. On the other hand, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar played a brilliant inning of 140 runs against Punjab in the Ranji Trophy final at Wankhede in 1994-95, when he was 21 years old.

Talking about the final match being played between Mumbai and Vidarbha, Mumbai, batting first, scored 224 runs in the first innings. Where Shardul Thakur batted brilliantly in the lower order and scored 75 runs. After this, Mumbai bowlers wreaked havoc and bowled out Vidarbha for just 105 runs in their first innings.

After taking a lead of 119 runs in the first innings, Mumbai suffered initial setbacks in its second innings on the second day. Prithvi Shaw and Bhupesh Lalwani were out cheaply. After this Musheer Khan and captain Ajinkya Rahane took charge. Both the batsmen took the team’s score to 141/2 by the end of play on the second day. During this, both of them completed their respective half-centuries.

On the third day, Musheer Khan maintained his rhythm from the beginning and led the innings with Shreyas Iyer after Rahane was out for 73 runs.

Tendulkar present in the stadium during record breaking

Since 1995, the record of the youngest batsman to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final was held by Sachin Tendulkar. During that final, Tendulkar played a brilliant inning of 140 runs for his team and Mumbai declared their first innings at a huge score of 690/6. His innings helped the team win another title. Coincidentally, today when Musheer broke his record, the legendary player was present in the stadium.
