While talking to Cricbuzz, Nitish Rana said, “What was going on in my mind was that the atmosphere in the dressing room of Delhi team was not good for my career. I felt that change was necessary for my career. I had always looked towards UP as an elite team and I also knew the people here. Luckily I found that team where I am getting respect.”

Let us tell you that Nitish Rana made his first class debut while playing for Delhi in 2015-16. He represented the team in 43 first class matches for Delhi. Nitish Rana scored more than 2 thousand first class runs for Delhi. While playing for Delhi, Nitish also scored 5 centuries in first class cricket.

I made a big mistake by ignoring red ball cricket

Nitish Rana told after the second day’s play how his attention had shifted from red ball cricket during Covid. He said, I like to perform when the team is in trouble. During Covid, when IPL was held in two phases, I had shifted my focus a bit from red ball cricket. Because of this I had lagged far behind.

This year I worked hard for red ball cricket, so that I could prove not to anyone else but to myself that I am a good player in Test cricket too. It was my mistake that I was not focusing on red ball cricket. Many people started raising questions on me that I would not be able to play the longer format but I ignored their words. Ever since I left the Delhi team and joined UP, it has been my endeavor to perform well in red ball cricket again.
