Former Indian veteran player and commentator Ravi Shastri has been awarded an honorary fellowship by Cardiff Metropolitan University. Ravi Shastri has been given this honor in view of his contribution to cricket for more than four decades.
Shastri was given this award at the historic Glamorgan Sophia Gardens ground, which is the home ground of Glamorgan County Cricket Club. Let us tell you that Ravi Shastri played four seasons here as a player in the late 1980s.

Ravi Shastri expressed his happiness after receiving the special honour, the former legend says that he never imagined that he would receive such an honour. While talking on BBC, he said,
It’s a huge honour, it’s something I never imagined. I never thought something like this would happen when I played here a long time ago. I enjoyed my time here in Cardiff playing for Glamorgan and I’m happy to be back.

Ravi Shastri represented India from 1981 to 1992. He also played an important role in India’s 1983 World Cup victory. He was also the first Indian batsman to hit six sixes in an over, he achieved this feat while playing for Mumbai against Baroda in the 1985-86 Ranji season.
Ravi Shastri is one of only five players in the history of Test cricket to complete a hat-trick of scoring 3 thousand runs, taking 150 wickets and scoring 10 centuries. After retiring from international cricket, he was also successful as a commentator.
Ravi Shastri has also served as the head coach of India from 2017 to 2021, under his leadership the team also won a historic Test series against Australia. Shastri has also served as a UNICEF brand ambassador for a decade.
