Dindigul Dragons won their maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title after a 6-wicket win over defending champions Lyca Kovai Kings in the final of TNPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (August 4).
After restricting Lyca Kovai Kings to 129/7 in their allotted 20 overs with an all-round bowling performance, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin smashed 52 off 46 balls to guide Dindigul Dragons to a win in the final with 10 balls to spare.

Dindigul Dragons captain Ravichandran Ashwin hit a stunning six over the bowler’s head in the final of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, August 4, which is being talked about a lot.
Lyca Kovai Kings and Dindigul Dragons were face to face in the final match of TNPL. While chasing the target of 130 runs, Dragons lost their first wicket in the second over itself. Ravichandran Ashwin came to the crease at number three. Facing his fourth ball, he hit a six straight over the bowler’s head on the ball going outside the off stump.
The Dindigul Dragons captain had scored 69 runs off 30 balls in the Qualifier 2 match and he continued the momentum. In the final, Ashwin played a sensible innings of 52 runs, which included a four and three sixes, to take his team closer to the title and lift their first trophy.

Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and decided to bowl first. Lyca Kovai Kings did not get a good start and the team scored 129/7 in 20 overs due to the struggle of Ram Arvind (27) and Atiq ur Rahman (25). Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier and P Vignesh took two wickets each for Dindigul Dragons.
In response, Dindigul Dragons chased down the target easily and won the match by six wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin received the Player of the Match award for his brilliant innings.
