This year, under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai won the 42nd Ranji Trophy by defeating Vidarbha at the Wankhede Stadium. Rahane could not show form with the bat in the Ranji Trophy. He scored 214 runs in 8 matches at an average of 17.83, which includes two half-centuries.
