Mumbai player Shardul Thakur had scored a brilliant century against Tamil Nadu in the semi-final match of Ranji Trophy 2024. Shardul Thakur faced 105 balls and scored 109 runs in the first innings with the help of 13 fours and 4 sixes. Shardul Thakur also took 4 wickets while bowling and won the title of Player of the Match.

Mumbai has secured a place in the final by defeating Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs. Despite match-winning performances for Mumbai, Shardul Thakur feels that his return to Team India is still a long way off.

Scoring a century is a big relief – Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur’s last Test match for India was against South Africa in January 2022, since then he has been out of the team. Shardul Thakur was not selected for the five-match Test series against England. Shardul Thakur says that the century in Ranji Trophy has given him a sigh of relief after being dropped from Team India.

Shardul Thakur also says that the team for the fifth Test against England has been announced, and the IPL is also about to start. Due to which he will have to wait to return to international cricket.

Shardul Thakur, while speaking after the second day of the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Tamil Nadu, had said, ‘I think a comeback at the international level is still a long way off because the squad for the fifth Test has been announced and after that, we are going into the IPL so it is a long way off.

Talking about his century against Tamil Nadu, Shardul Thakur said, ‘I’m not thinking that far. But yes, scoring a century is a big relief and it was very important for the team at that time.
