SL vs IND 2nd T20, Rinku Singh takes the catch on the boundary and slips: The second match of the 3-match T20 series between Sri Lanka and India was played on 28 July at Pallekele Stadium, Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl. Team India made one change in its playing XI. Sanju Samson was included in the playing XI in place of Shubman Gill.

Sri Lanka had a strong start

Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis targeted Mohammad Siraj in the very first over and both the openers scored 10 runs. While Sri Lanka was hoping to make a good start slowly, Sri Lanka got a big blow in the fourth over. Kusal Mendis was caught out by Ravi Bishnoi on the ball of Arshdeep Singh. Kusal Mendis had scored 10 runs off 11 balls.

After that there was a partnership of 50 runs between Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka. Sri Lanka had scored 77 runs at the loss of 1 wicket in 9 overs. But then something unexpected happened at the beginning of the 10th over.

Rinku Singh dropped an easy catch

Ravi Bishnoi came to bowl the tenth over for Team India and on his very first ball, Kusal Perera gave away his catch in the quest to hit a big shot. But Rinku Singh missed such a golden opportunity and Kusal Perera got a lifeline on 32 runs.

Rinku Singh got another chance in the 14th over but he missed this opportunity too. Actually, Kusal Perera tried to hit a six on the third ball of the 14th over bowled by Hardik Pandya. He was batting on 45 runs at that time.

Kusal Perera played his trademark pick up shot behind square on the leg side. The ball did not come between the bat and went straight into the hands of fielder Rinku Singh standing near the boundary. Rinku was running to his left to catch the ball. But as soon as the ball came in his hand, he lost his control and slipped and fell straight across the boundary rope.

The shot is called a six and Kusal Perera is all smiles as he brings up his half-century thanks to Rinku Singh’s mistake where he was getting out.
