However, looking at the kind of squad the board has selected, fans and cricket experts believe that Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will open for India, while Virat Kohli will bat at number three. But considering the poor form Yashasvi Jaiswal is going through, the former veteran all-rounder has suggested the name of a different opening pair for Team India.

Irfan Pathan Speaking to Star Sports, he said, “It is a big matter of concern because I believe that Yashasvi Jaiswal should start in the World Cup because he is a left-handed batsman. Therefore the opposing team will not start with the left arm spinner. If Yashasvi is in form then he will be a little hesitant in doing so.

However, in this form, the team will think twice. The team will wonder whether they should open with in-form Virat Kohli along with Rohit Sharma, or go with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is young and inexperienced. In such a situation, it is very important for him to come in form.”

Pathan further said, “The good thing for Yashasvi is that he will get opportunities because his team has qualified and if they finish in the top two then he will get more opportunities. With this in mind, there are some positives for Yashasvi, but this form will also trouble Rajasthan Royals a lot.” Jaiswal has scored 348 runs in the 13 matches played so far at an average of 29.00.
