India bowled out South Africa for 55 after Dean Elgar elected to bat first in Cape Town on Wednesday, January 3. However, after this the African bowlers also dismissed Rohit Sharma and Company for 153 runs. After this, the Indian bowlers restricted the African team to 62/3 in the second innings till the end of the day’s play. The African team is still behind by 36 runs with seven wickets remaining.
During a discussion on Star Sports, Gavaskar was asked about his thoughts on the match after the end of the first day’s play. Responding to this he said, “Three wickets have already fallen. India still has the lead. That’s why I don’t think this match can go out of India’s grip. Yes, this cannot be an innings victory.”
The former Indian captain further said, “They (India) may have to bat a little but I don’t think South Africa has the batsmen who can score 150-200 runs and trouble the Indian team a bit. “
Let us tell you that at present Aiden Markram (36*) and David Bedingham (7*) are batting at the crease for South Africa.
