SA2025: Paarl Royals has started preparations for the upcoming third season of the league. The franchise has already included veteran players like Joe Root and Dinesh Karthik in the team. Paarl Royals has now signed English all-rounder Jacob Bethell and batsman Sam Hain as foreign players.

Both are top-class players- Kumar Sangakkara

Paarl Royals Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara expressed his happiness over the joining of Jacob Bethell and Sam Hain with the team and said,

Jacob Bethell and Sam Hein are both top-class players, as their recent performances show. Jacob’s explosive style and game awareness are things that will prove extremely useful. We play in the SA20, both at home in Paarl and away in similar conditions. Meanwhile, Sam’s ability to make an instant impact with the bat has really come to the fore recently, and we are all very excited to see what he does. We are looking forward to both of them joining the Royals for Season 3.

Take a look at Jacob Bethel’s performance-

Jacob Bethel was born in Barbados, he received a sports scholarship at Rugby School in Warwickshire at the age of 13. Bethel was part of the England team that reached the final of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup as an opening batsman. Jacob has shown excellent performance for his team with the ball and bat in all three formats. He has scored 676 runs in 38 T20 matches so far at a strike rate of 140.

In the T20 Blast this year, the young player has scored 356 runs at a strike rate of 155.45, and has also taken 6 wickets at an economy of 6.78. Also, playing for Birmingham Phoenix in the ongoing Hundred 2024, Jacob has scored 111 runs in 3 matches, he is currently the second highest run scorer in the tournament.

Sam Hain came into the limelight with his impressive performance in the year 2022, scoring over a thousand runs to keep Warwickshire in the top division. He has been a standout performer in the domestic circuit in all three formats – first-class cricket, List-A and T20.

Sam Hein is known for his ability to play risky shots, rotate the strike and play spin well. Hein has played in many T20 leagues around the world so far. Hein has scored 4500 runs in 155 T20 matches at a strike rate of 133.95.
