The Indian team was criticized a lot for its disappointing batting during the series.
The Indian team suffered a crushing defeat on home soil on Sunday, October 3, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Visiting New Zealand defeated India by 25 runs in the third Test and made a 3-0 clean sweep in the series. For the first time since 2000, India has been whitewashed at home. Apart from this, New Zealand became the first team to be whitewashed in a series of more than two test matches.
The Indian team was criticized a lot for this disappointing batting. Except Sarfaraz Khan, no other batsman scored a century. Tendulkar praised Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant for their half-century innings in the third Test and gave credit to New Zealand for the victory. He even said that the team should introspect.
Here is Sachin Tendulkar’s post
Tendulkar tweeted from the Was it a lack of preparation, was it poor shot selection, or was it a lack of match practice? Shubman Gill showed resilience in the first innings and Rishabh Pant was brilliant in both innings – his footwork made complete difference to a challenging surface. That was fantastic. Full credit goes to New Zealand for their consistently good performance throughout the series. Winning 3-0 in India is as good a result as you can get.
Losing 3-0 at home is a tough pill to swallow, and it calls for introspection.
