Shami was injured during World Cup 2023
The Indian cricket team will be seen playing without fast bowler Mohammed Shami in the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand, starting with the first match on October 16 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
However, before the start of this series, there was a possibility that Shami would make a comeback to cricket through this series, because he was last seen playing against Australia in the World Cup last year.
He had become fit before the series against the Kiwi team, but at the last moment due to swelling in his knee, he was ruled out of this tour. Captain Rohit Sharma has also given a statement regarding this recently.
On the other hand, Shami is going to be an important bowler during India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series on Australia tour. But now former Indian player and well-known cricket commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has given a big statement regarding Shami’s return to Team India.
Sanjay Manjrekar gave a big statement
Let us tell you that recently in a special interview with Crictracker, Manjrekar said about Shami – I would say that you should only pay attention to his physical fitness. There is no need to focus on match fitness. If he is physically fit and if he feels he can bowl 30 overs per innings, then go with Shami straight away.
Manjrekar further said- If you see his performance, he does not work hard physically. His magic lies in his final bowling action, he has very good wrists. Therefore, there are very few bowlers like him.
Bowlers like Shami, even with a body of 70% fitness, trouble the top class batsmen. He is exactly like that. If he doesn’t bowl at home, and passes the fitness test, he should be in the team. And not just in the team, but also in the playing eleven.
