Sharafuddaula Ibne Shahid included in elite panel of ICC umpires


Sharafuddaulah Ibne Shahid has become the first umpire from his country to be included in the elite panel of ICC umpires.

Bangladesh’s outstanding umpire Sharafuddaula Ibne Shahid has been included in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires following the International Cricket Council’s annual review and selection process. Sharafuddaulah Ibne Shahid has become the first umpire from his country to be included in the elite panel of ICC umpires.

Let us tell you, the selection panel of International Cricket Council General Manager Chairman Wasim Khan, former player and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, retired New Zealand umpire Tony Hill and consultant officer Mike Riley has included Sharafuddaula Ibne Shahid in the list of ICC International Panel of Umpires. Sharafuddaulah Ibne Shahid has been in the international panel since 2006 and his first international appointment was in January 2010 for the ODI match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Mirpur.

Not only this, Sharafuddaula Ibne Shahid has been the field umpire in 10 men’s Test matches, 63 men’s ODI matches and 44 men’s T20 matches. Apart from this, she has also field umpired in TERA Women’s ODI matches and 28 Women’s T20 matches. Sharafuddaulah Ibne Shahid has also umpired in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017 and 2021 seasons and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2018.

Sharafuddaulah Ibne Shahid said, ‘I feel very honored to see my name in the ICC Elite Panel. I also learned that I am the first umpire from my country to be included in the ICC Elite Panel and this is also an honor for me. I will not disappoint those who have placed their trust in me. Over the last few years, I have shared a lot of umpiring experience and I am fully prepared for the challenges to come.

There are now 6 people in the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees instead of 7. Chris Broad has not been included in the panel for the 2024-25 season. Chris Broad is also a well-known umpire but he has not been included in the elite panel in the 2024-25 season.
