SL vs IND, 1st ODI: 1st Innings Highlights: The first match of the ODI series between Sri Lanka and India is being played on 2 August at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the host has scored 230 runs on the board for the loss of 8 wickets. Dunith Wellalage played the highest unbeaten innings of 67 runs.

Sri Lanka scored only 37 runs in the powerplay after losing one wicket

Batting first against India, Sri Lanka suffered the first blow in the third over. Mohammad Siraj sent opener Asitha Fernando (1) to the pavilion. Due to the excellent bowling of Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Shivam Dubey in the powerplay, Sri Lanka was able to score 37 runs at the loss of one wicket.

Kusal Mendis, Samarawickrama and captain Asalanka’s bat also did not work

After losing their first wicket inside the powerplay, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis added 39 runs for the second wicket. Kusal Mendis (14) was trapped LBW by Shivam Dube in the 14th over of the innings.

Washington Sundar gave India the fifth and big success by dismissing Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka LBW in the 27th over of the innings. Nissanka played an innings of 56 runs in 75 balls with the help of 9 fours.

Dunitha Velalage played a half-century innings

There was an important partnership of 41 runs for the sixth wicket between Zenith Liyanage and Dunith Velalage. Zenith Liyanage scored 20 runs in 26 balls. Whereas, Wanindu Hasaranga scored 24 runs in 35 balls. Dunith Velalage played an unbeaten innings of 67 runs with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes in 65 balls.

Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh took 2-2 wickets each

For India, Akshar Patel took two wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs. Akshar Patel took the wickets of Sadira Samarawickrama (8) and Junith Liyanage (20). Arshdeep Singh took two wickets for 46 runs in 8 overs. Apart from these, Mohammad Siraj, Shivam Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar took 1 wicket each.
