Rishabh Pant took more time to drop the bails
The 49th over of Sri Lanka’s innings was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. On the last ball of the over, Mahish Theekshana tried to play a shot by moving ahead of the crease, but he missed the ball. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant had a chance to stump Theekshana out because he had moved too far ahead of the crease. But Pant took too much time to drop the bails.
The onfield umpire took the help of the third umpire. Mahish Teekshana thought he was out, and he was walking back to the pavilion even before the third umpire’s decision. Replays showed that Mahish Teekshana had returned to the crease before the stumping took place, so the third umpire declared Teekshana not out.

Sri Lanka had a great start by winning the toss and batting first in the third ODI. There was an 89-run partnership for the first wicket between Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis.
