Janith Liyanage was trying to play a big shot on a ball from Akshar Patel but the ball turned at the last moment and Indian captain Rohit Sharma, standing at slip, caught the ball very well.

The Indian team felt that the ball had hit Janith Liyanage’s bat and they appealed to the field umpire for out. As soon as the field umpire saw that Janith Liyanage was returning to the pavilion disappointed, he declared the Sri Lankan player out. The most surprising thing was that the ball had not hit Janith Liyanage’s bat and he was not out, however despite this the Sri Lankan player did not ask for DRS and he returned to the pavilion without saying anything.

The Sri Lankan camp was also quite surprised to see why Janith Liyanage did not ask for DRS. In fact, when the replay was seen, it was clear that the ball did not touch his bat at all and he was not out.

Janith Liyanage was given not out, but he himself walked off.

India needs to score 231 runs to win the match

For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka batted very well and played a valuable innings of 56 runs. Apart from Nissanka, Dunith Wellalage contributed 67* runs. He hit 7 fours and two sixes during his innings. Talking about Janith Liyanage, he played an innings of 20 runs. For India, Akshar Patel and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets each while Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar and Shivam Dubey took one wicket each.

India will have to score 231 runs in 50 overs to win the first ODI. This target will not be so difficult for them because Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have returned to the team and the rest of their players are also in very good form at this time.
