In the first ODI match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Indian women’s cricket team defeated New Zealand by 59 runs. In this match, all the players from the host side performed brilliantly and played an important role in the victory of their team. New Zealand’s batsmen failed to leave their mark.
During the match, New Zealand women’s team captain Sophie Devine gave her wicket to the host for free. Actually all this was seen in the 12th over of New Zealand’s innings. Sophie Devine played Deepti Sharma’s ball very comfortably and she remained standing at one place. The New Zealand captain could not return to the crease at the right time and in the meantime, Deepti Sharma threw the ball towards the wicketkeeper who ran her out.
Sophie Devine thought that she had come inside the crease but it was not so and the experienced player lost her wicket. Let us tell you that Sophie Devine failed to make a big score in the first ODI against Team India and was out after scoring two runs.

Indian women’s team won the first ODI
In this match, the Indian women’s team, batting first, scored 227 runs after losing all the wickets. On behalf of the team, Deepti Sharma played an inning of 41 runs while Tejal Hasabnis contributed 42 runs. Shefali Verma played an inning of 33 runs while wicketkeeper batsman Yastika Bhatia scored 37 runs. In this match, Smriti Mandhana failed to score big and returned back to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs.
In reply, the New Zealand women’s team batted disappointingly and scored only 168 runs. On behalf of the team, Brook Halliday scored 39 runs while Maddie Green returned to the pavilion after scoring 31 runs. Lauren Down played an inning of 26 runs while Georgia Plimmer contributed 25 runs. For Team India, Radha Yadav took three wickets while Saima Thakur took two wickets. The Indian women’s team has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
