Kagiso Rabada is the only Black African in the team.
Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Let us tell you that this time this tournament is going to start from June 2 to be hosted by West Indies and USA. So, Cricket South Africa has recently announced its 15-member team for this multinational tournament.
However, after the announcement of the team by the board, it is facing strong criticism. So the main reason behind this is to select only one player from the Black African community in the team. It is noteworthy that only Kagiso Rabada from the Black African community has got a place in the South African team. However, Lungi Ngidi from this community has got a place in the team as a reserve player, but he is not a part of the 15-member team.
Strong criticism of South African team
Let us tell you that after Cricket South Africa announced the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup, former South African Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula wrote through a post on his official X account – In the Proteas team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 team. The selection of only 1 African player is certainly a reservation of the benefits of the change and does not reflect a fair representation of all South Africans in the national cricket team.
Also on this issue, former Chief of Cricket South Africa Ray Mali said- I believe that the team has achieved a lot, but I also believe that we have gone backward in terms of cricket. Instead of moving forward, we have taken a step backward.
