Pat Cummins, speaking to The Guardian before the Test series against West Indies, said, ‘This is a new challenge for him, which I don’t think you can underestimate. I have never seen him as happy and energetic as I have seen him in the nets in recent times.
‘Watching someone who has achieved everything in sports get really excited about a new challenge, you can see that his mind is already spinning about how he can do things in slightly different ways. Will work from… It’s like being active again.

Pat Cummins further said, ‘Our intention is not to give just a few Test matches. We want this change to be permanent. We don’t want to give a chance to this Steve Smith but want to give a chance to Cameron Green and others.
