Adam Gilchrist gave statement regarding the selection of KL Rahul

“Talk about World Cup selection cannot stop during the tournament. But there is no need to think about who is going to the World Cup and who is not, what else has to be done to make a place in the team. Rahul will have to work out like every other player in this tournament. If you are in the eyes of the selection committee, you will be sitting on the plane for the World Cup.”

Before the start of IPL 2024, there was speculation that Rahul could be seen playing in the middle order to further cement his place in the World Cup squad.
