Kohli has scored 2500 T20 runs for India in 73 matches.
Currently a three-match T20 series is being played between India and Bangladesh (IND vs BAN). So the second match of this series will be played today on 9th October at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In this match, Indian team’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav will have a chance to equal the special record of Virat Kohli, and he will become the second player from India to do so.
Let us tell you that Suryakumar Yadav has scored 2461 runs in 72 T20 matches played for India. He is just 39 runs short of touching the 2500-run mark in T20 cricket. So if he scores 39 runs in the second T20 match against Bangladesh today, he will become the second fastest batsman from India to score 2500 T20 runs.
Before Surya, former Indian captain and run machine Virat Kohli had taken 73 innings to score 2500 T20 runs. Apart from this, he has scored 4188 runs in 125 T20 matches played for India. After recently winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli had decided to bid goodbye to the shortest format of the game.
On the other hand, the record of scoring the fastest 2500 T20 runs in T20 cricket is in the name of former captain of Pakistan cricket team and veteran batsman Babar Azam. It is noteworthy that Babar has taken only 67 innings to reach this figure in T20 cricket.
