According to Harbhajan Singh, the mistake of underestimating the Afghan team could prove costly for Team India.
T20 WC 2024: In the T20 World Cup, the Indian team will play its first Super 8 match against Afghanistan on June 20. Before this match, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has warned Rohit Sharma and company. According to Harbhajan Singh, the mistake of underestimating the Afghan team can cost Team India heavily.
India won all the matches in Group A and got a ticket to Super 8. Although the Indian team has won all the matches so far, the situation in West Indies is different from America. In such a situation, the biggest challenge for Team India will be to first understand the pitch.
Harbhajan Singh alerted Team India
Harbhajan Singh warned Team India and said-
“They (Afghanistan) are a very good team. The graph we have seen shows that Afghanistan has made a lot of progress in a very short time. They have Rashid Khan and Nabi. Their spinners are probably the best bowlers of the tournament. At the same time, their batting is also strong. They don’t just play flick shots or get out playing careless shots. They now have experience after playing the ODI World Cup. They almost defeated Australia.”
Don’t underestimate Afghanistan in big matches
Harbhajan further said that Afghanistan should not be underestimated especially in big matches. He said-
“This team has the strength and can beat any big team. So they should not be underestimated when they play against India. Because if they win the toss and things go their way then it can be a challenge for India. Afghanistan teams are adept at making big upsets. Because they have done such feats before.”
