Afghanistan won by 7 wickets against Papua New Guinea.
Afghanistan’s performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been very good so far. They have won all three of their matches in the group stage so far and have qualified for the Super 8. Recently the team defeated Papua New Guinea. Afghanistan won by 7 wickets against Papua New Guinea.
In this match, experienced fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi from Afghanistan took 3 wickets for 16 runs in four overs. He was the Player of the Match. As soon as Fazalhaq Farooqi went to receive the Player of the Match award, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan sat in the middle of the cameramen. He was hiding behind the camera. As soon as Fazalhaq started talking about his performance, Rashid Khan started imitating him.
Seeing this, the Afghanistan fast bowler could not stop laughing. Fazalhaq Farooqi said in the presentation after the match, ‘I would like to thank the people of Afghanistan that we have qualified for the Super 8. I think we played very good cricket. I was also in the IPL but I did not get to play a match and that is why I came to this important tournament and bowled to my strength.
I had two plans while bowling. If the ball is swinging then it is important to take wickets and if there is no movement then I have to bowl in the right areas. We just have to give our 100 percent and perform the same in Super 8 as well.

So far, India has qualified from Group A in the Super 8 of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 while Australia has also confirmed its place from Group D. Afghanistan and West Indies have qualified from Group C and South Africa has confirmed its place in the Super 8 in Group D.
Still three more teams have to qualify. Today, on 14th June, an important match of this important tournament will be played between America and Ireland. If America wins this match, then they will also secure their place in the Super 8.
