Former cricketer Irfan Pathan believes that the specialist batsmen of the Indian team should practice throwing some balls in the nets for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. According to him, specialist batsmen may have to bowl in this tournament.

According to Irfan Pathan, there are many all-rounders who performed very well for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2007 and the ODI World Cup 2011. He named Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina as examples.

Irfan Pathan told Star Sports, ‘If I were a coach, I would have definitely made this rule that if you are a batsman, you should also bowl a bit along with batting. You cannot leave the nets without bowling.’

The former player further said, ‘None of the batsmen can bowl. Neither Rohit Sharma, nor Virat Kohli nor Suryakumar Yadav. And this is where we get stuck. If even one of them could bowl, it would be a big thing for the team combination. You can take the example of England. Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone and Will Jacks can also bowl. Apart from this, they also have four to five important bowlers.’

Irfan Pathan gave important advice to the Indian team

Irfan Pathan further said, ‘We can make two combinations. 6 bowlers in which you can play Akshar Patel. Apart from this, you can go with four main bowlers and expect Shivam Dubey and Hardik Pandya to bowl. There is another player whom you can play. Yashasvi Jaiswal is bowling continuously in the nets but he has not done so in the match yet.

In the T20 World Cup, you can expect one over from him. If Yashasvi bowls one over and Hardik Pandya bowls three overs, this problem will be solved.
