T20 World Cup 2024: In a thrilling match, West Indies defeated Papua New Guinea at home


Roston Chase batted brilliantly and played a match winning inning of 42* runs in 27 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.

West Indies defeated Papua New Guinea by 5 wickets in the second match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 played at Providence Stadium in Guyana. In this match, all the players from West Indies performed very well and played an important role in their team’s victory. Papua New Guinea players failed to show good performance against West Indies.

Batting first, Papua New Guinea scored 136 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. For the team, Sese Bau played a valuable innings of 50 runs with the help of 6 fours and 1 six in 43 balls. Apart from Sese Bau, wicketkeeper batsman Kiplin Doriga scored 27 runs with the help of 3 fours in 18 balls. Captain Assad Wala played an innings of 21 runs while Charles Amini scored 12 runs.

For West Indies, Andre Russell took two wickets for 19 runs in three overs while Alzari Joseph took two wickets for 34 runs in four overs. Akil Hussain, Gudekesh Moti and Romario Shepherd took one wicket each. West Indies bowlers did their job well against Papua New Guinea.

West Indies achieved the target against Papua New Guinea by losing 5 wickets. West Indies did not have a good start in this match and Johnson Charles was out on the first ball without opening his account. However, Brandon King batted very well for West Indies and played a valuable innings of 34 runs.

Apart from Brandon King, wicketkeeper batsman Nicholas Pooran scored 27 runs. However, Roston Chase batted brilliantly for the team and played a match-winning innings of 42* runs with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes in 27 balls. Andre Russell contributed 15* runs. Captain Assad Wala bowled very well for Papua New Guinea and took two wickets for 28 runs in four overs. Even though West Indies won this match, Papua New Guinea gave them a tough fight.
