T20 World Cup 2024: Florida’s weather has been troubling teams for the past few days. Rain has disrupted the last two matches played here, including the match between USA vs Ireland and India vs Canada. Both the matches were cancelled without a single ball being bowled due to wet outfield. Pakistan has been eliminated from the tournament due to the cancellation of the match between USA and Ireland.

The Florida ground is lacking in facilities, due to which the ICC is facing criticism at this time. Former Indian player Navjot Singh Siddhu has also slammed the ICC on this issue. The cricket commentator says that the ICC should ensure that the results of matches should be determined by the skill of the team rather than the weather conditions.

ICC needs to reform: Navjot Singh Sidhu

Speaking on a video shared on social media, Navjot Singh Sidhu said, ‘There is a lot of scope for improvement. The ICC should not let the weather dictate the conditions, it should be based on the abilities of the teams. Yesterday, the Super Sopper stopped working because there was no petrol.’

Talking about the difference between cricket and other sports, Sidhu said that during other sports the entire stadium is covered, but this is not happening in cricket.When you play basketball or rugby, the stadiums are completely covered. This is a great country with enough resources, a lot of money, so it is important to make sure that the capabilities of the teams are assessed properly.

Strong team is falling behind due to rain- Sidhu

Navjot Singh Sidhu further said, ‘Yesterday there was a match between Ireland and America, which got cancelled due to rain. It is raining in the match between Namibia and England as well. England is also facing danger. This is not right, if strong teams are left behind due to rain then the charm of the tournament will be lost.’

Pakistan has to play its last match of the group stage round against Ireland today (16 June) in Florida. It remains to be seen whether it is possible to hold the match here today after two consecutive matches being cancelled.
