T20 World Cup 2024: Will India be able to take revenge for the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against England?


India have to play against defending champions England to reach the final, which will be a rematch of the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final.

India’s 24-run win over Australia on Monday sealed their place in the second semifinal. India will now play against England at the Providence Stadium, Guyana on June 27 (8:00 PM IST) as per Indian time zone.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, defeated Bangladesh in their last match and knocked Australia out of the tournament and made it to the semi-finals. They will face South Africa in the first semi-final on 27 June at 6 am.

India vs England match is going to be very exciting

South Africa vs Afghanistan match will be very exciting but even more high voltage match will be between India and England.

This match will be exciting because India, the favorites to win the trophy, have to play against defending champions England to reach the final, which will be a rematch of the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final. This year India has a great chance to avenge this defeat.

England defeated India badly in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup

In the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022, England and India clashed at the Adelaide Oval on November 10, 2022. England emerged victorious in that match thanks to the brilliant performances of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales.

This defeat hurt the Indian team because after dominating the entire tournament, they lost to England by 10 wickets in the semi-finals and because of that, India’s dream of winning the trophy was shattered.

T20 World Cup 2024 Semi-Final Schedule and Timings

The second semi-final in Guyana is a day game (8:30 PM IST), which is perfect for Indian TV audiences.

The first semi-final will take place in Trinidad on June 27 at 6:00 am IST.

Whereas, the second semi-final match will be played on June 27 from 8 pm.

After a poor performance in the first Test match against England, the team management decided to drop Babar. In place of Babar, Kamran Ghulam was included in the team, who confirmed his place in the Test team by scoring a century in his debut match. This is not a good sign for Babar Azam in red ball cricket. On the other hand, apart from Test, Babar’s bat is not working in T20 also. Babar has been able to score only 6 runs in the two T20 matches played against Australia. So in the ODI series that ended before the T20 series, Babar’s performance was 37, 15* and 28* runs. Apart from this, Babar has also not been included in the Pakistani team for the upcoming white series against Zimbabwe. Now that the Champions Trophy 2025 is very close, and Babar not being able to perform for the Pakistani team in the white ball format, it may become a headache for the PCB in the future.
