Aditya Birla Group leads the race to get title sponsorship of IPL
Currently Tata Group is the title sponsor of IPL. TATA IPL Trophy. (Image Source: BCCI-IPL) India’s multinational business conglomerate Aditya Birla Group seems to be ahead in the race to get the title sponsorship of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Let us tell you that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had invited bids for the 2024-28 cycle, in which the reserve price was Rs 350 crore per year, which comes to Rs 1750 crore for five years. However, according to the latest media reports, Aditya Birla Group has made a bid of Rs 500 crore per annum, which is about Rs 750 crore more than the previous bid. It is noteworthy that Tata Group has remained the title sponsor of IPL for the last two years after Vivo company ended the IPL title sponsorship deal midway in 2021, for which it has given Rs 670 crore to BCCI in the last two years. However, now the board wants title sponsorship for the next five years, for which the board had issued tenders last year on December 12, 2023. The last date for submission of bids for this tender was January 13, 2024 till 5 pm. Also, no Chinese company will be able to participate in this bid. So in this bid, BCCI seems to be getting the highest bid from Aditya Birla Group. However, if BCCI’s rules related to title sponsorship are followed, then the current sponsor Tata Group will have the right to bid first, but for this they will have to make a bigger bid than Aditya Birla Group. On the other hand, if Aditya Birla Group is successful in winning the title sponsorship of IPL, then it will become very famous among the youth of India as well as the world, due to which its 65 billion dollar business seems to be benefiting a lot.
