He then played his last T20 International against India on 24 June during the T20 World Cup 2024. Announcing his retirement on social media, Warner had said that if the team needs him for the Champions Trophy 2025, he can return to the national team. Australia is going to play a five-match Test series against India under the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home from November 22. Warner has expressed his desire to join the team for this also. However, David Warner’s wife has rejected his return to the national team. David Warner’s wife gave this statement Expressing his desire to join the Australian team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Warner told News Corp, “I am always available, (Cricket Australia selectors) just have to pick up the phone.” David Warner’s wife Candice Warner denied reports of his return and told Fox Sports’ The Back Page, He is very keen to play for Australia and I think if selector George Bailey or coach Andrew McDonald picked up the phone and said ‘we need you’ he would be ready to go. But that’s definitely not going to happen. I think he wouldn’t have said that if he really didn’t think he was capable of doing it, but that’s no disrespect to any opener or people (for selection). If he has to go down that path to playing again, he has to do it the same way as everyone else playing the Sheffield Shield and everything like that. But this is not happening.
