According to reports, his mother-in-law Pushpa Mehrotra passed away, due to which he had to suddenly leave his commentary duties. He immediately left for Kanpur. She was 95, having played an important role in Gavaskar’s career. Sunil Gavaskar resumed his commentary duties for the second Test in Visakhapatnam after taking part in the first Test in Hyderabad. But due to this unfortunate incident that happened on the first day of the test match, he had to leave the commentary duty. The cricket world expressed its condolences to him and wished for the family to bear this loss. The first day was in the name of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Talking about the match, the first day was entirely in the name of Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored his second century in Test cricket.
