Lara says that he and Sachin Tendulkar were nowhere close to the talent of Carl Hooper, who is counted among the best all-rounders in the world. Apart from this, Lara has also praised Carl Hooper’s captaincy skills. Lara also expressed a sense of sadness, noting that it was somewhat ironic that Hooper’s true potential was fully realized only during his tenure as captain, as he was not able to showcase his talent before that. It is worth noting that Carl Hooper’s cricket career for the West Indies cricket team was about 16 years. But during this time he got the opportunity to captain the Caribbean team for only 1 year. During this time, he scored 1609 runs in 37 innings at an average of 45.97, while without captaincy his average had come down to 33.76.
