(Image Source: BCCI-IPL) IPL 2025: Preparations for the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are in full swing and all the franchises are busy finalizing the retention plans of their players before the October 31 retention deadline. However, some ambiguities have emerged in the IPL 2025-27 player regulation document shared by BCCI, due to which the franchises are in a dilemma. What is the confusion in BCCI guidelines, why are all the franchises worried? In the six-page document released by BCCI, RetentionInformation like salary cap, match fee and performance pay is given. But, some of the points given in the footnote have confused the franchisees. Actually, in the document Player 1 (Rs 18 Crore), Player 2 (Rs 14 Crore), Player 3 (Rs 11 Crore) A price list is given for , but the footnote states: “The total amount of retention is Rs 75 crore, irrespective of the amount paid to the players. If the total amount exceeds Rs 75 crore, the actual amount will be deducted. Even if the total amount is less than Rs 75 crore, there will be a deduction of Rs 75 crore.” This directive has raised many questions among the franchises as to what will be the correct process to retain players. What is the reaction of the franchisees? “This footnote is confusing us,” said a senior executive of a franchise. Can we set our own prices for players, or do we have to follow the price tags given to them? If the total retention value exceeds Rs 75 crore, it will be deducted from the salary cap, but if it is less, there will still be a deduction of Rs 75 crore.” He further said, “If franchises have the right to decide the price of players as per their choice, then what is the meaning of the amounts of Rs 18 crore, Rs 14 crore and Rs 11 crore?” Demand for clarification from BCCI franchisees have BCCI Clarification has been sought on this footnote. Another officer said, “This is the most important part of the process, and we are hoping that BCCI will issue clear guidelines on this soon.” The franchises are hopeful that BCCI will release a guidelines document in the next few days, in which all the points will be explained in detail. The officer said- “Right now we only have indications, but we are hoping that BCCI will soon release a 30-40 page document which will give us complete information about all the rules.” This uncertainty has left the franchises in a dilemma, and they are waiting for a detailed clarification from the BCCI to clarify their strategies. IPL 2025 The retention process of players is an important part of the IPL, and all franchises want clarification as soon as possible to understand the process correctly.

We are just a small player in that entire ecosystem, but I can proudly say that we are the IPL of legends. Raheja further said- Whichever player retires from IPL, we start with him. Tournament is the story of DK (Dinesh Karthik), Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammad Kaif. There are a lot of these cricketers, they finish and we start. “I will keep Akshar Patel at number 2”- Aakash Chopra expressed his opinion regarding the retention of Delhi Capitals.
Rishabh Pant is the captain of Delhi Capitals in IPL. Aakash Chopra and Rishabh Pant (Image Credit- Twitter Former Team India batsman Aakash Chopra believes that Axar Patel should be the second retention of Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. He pointed out that the spin-bowling all-rounder has performed excellently for the franchise and it could prove costly for them if they try to re-acquire him through the ‘Right to Match’ card. Delhi Capitals failed to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs and the team finished sixth after the league stage ended. Axar was one of the star performers for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. He scored 235 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 131.28 and took 11 wickets in 44 overs at an economy rate of 7.65. Aakash Chopra gives advice to Delhi Capitals regarding retention In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel should be the first two retentions of Delhi Capitals. He said, “Rishabh Pant needs to be retained, although earlier there were rumors that he would not stay. However, now they are saying that it has been confirmed that he will be staying. So keep Rishabh Pant as your first retention, Rs 18 crore there.” The former opener further said, “I would say Axar Patel at number 2 because Bapu’s performance has been excellent for this team. He bowls four overs, bats very well and is a good fielder. If you keep him in the auction, you will have to pay a lot for RTM, so I think you should retain him.” Chopra admitted that the franchises may retain five capped players ahead of the auction. However, he added that apart from Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals do not have any players who should be retained for ₹18 crore, and hence they should limit themselves to only three capped retentions.
“Will be dropped…”- Aakash Chopra gave a stern warning to Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson and Aakash Chopra (Image Credit- Twitter) Despite making his international debut nine years ago in 2015, India wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has not been able to permanently cement his place in the Indian cricket team. With the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the shortest format of the game, new head coach Gautam Gambhir and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav have decided to give Samson a chance as an opening batsman in the T20I series against Bangladesh. Samson opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma in the first match of the series at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Samson displayed his timing and technique and scored 29 runs in 19 balls but could not make much impact and was out without finishing the match. meanwhile Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra, while stressing on the upcoming matches, warned that if Samson does not perform well, he could be dropped. Aakash Chopra gave a big statement regarding Sanju Samson During a conversation on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that it is important to talk about Sanju Samson. Abhishek Sharma was playing brilliantly until he was run out. But how much better Sanju Samson played. Gautam Gambhir had said long ago that if Sanju Samson does not play for India then it is a loss for the team. Gautam Gambhir made him open. He looked good and scored 29 runs. What I am saying is that when he had scored so many runs, he should have gone further. If he does not do this then he will be dropped. He was constantly in and out of the team. Let us tell you that Sanju Samson may get a chance to open in the next two matches and there he will have to try to play big innings. If he performs well in the upcoming matches, he will get a chance in the upcoming series.
