Kaveri river water does not reach these areas and these areas are completely dependent on ground water and surface water. According to reports, more than 1.20 lakh tonnes of silt and sand has been removed from Ittagalpura Lake and Sadenahalli Lake, which has been used to build dams and pathways across the lakes and 52 farmers have used this silt as topsoil for their fields.
