However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is also concerned about the current security situation in the country. Also, for the successful organization of the tournament, the board has sought security assurance from the country’s army chief Waker-Uz-Zaman. A big statement from BCB official came out Let us tell you that recently, Bangladesh Cricket Board Umpire Committee Chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu was quoted by Cricbuzz as saying – We are trying to host the tournament. To be honest, there are not many people from our board present in the country and on Thursday (August 8) we have sent a letter to the Army Chief regarding assurances about the security of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as we have only two months. Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu further said- ICC contacted us two days ago and we replied that we will get back to them soon. Even after the (interim) government is formed today, we have to assure them of security, because it cannot be given by the board or anyone other than the law enforcement agency of the country. Therefore, today we have sent them a letter, and after getting assurance from them (Army Chief), we will inform the ICC.
