The Sunrisers team confirmed their place in the final by defeating Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier match. Hyderabad’s performance was excellent throughout this season. Although many players gave match-winning performances for them this season, but the player who impressed the most was Abhishek Sharma. Travis Head along with Abhishek Sharma gave the team a fast and aggressive start in every match. While Abhishek failed with the bat against Rajasthan Royals in the last match, he performed brilliantly with the ball. The part-time spinner took two wickets in his four-over spell, conceding 24 runs at an economy rate of six. He dismissed Sanju Samson in the ninth over. After this, in the 14th over, Abhishek dismissed Rajasthan’s explosive batsman Shimron Hetmyer. Abhishek Sharma gave a big statement about Yuvraj Singh In the press conference held after this match, Abhishek Sharma said that former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh influenced him to bowl. He told that Yuvi told him that he can become a better bowler than him. Actually, Yuvraj is his mentor. Abhishek further said, “Whenever I have talked to Yuvi paaji (Yuvraj Singh) about bowling, he has always said that I can become a better bowler than him. This was always in my mind. I think he will also be happy that I contributed.” Along with this, Abhishek told that his father would be very happy. The 23-year-old bowler said, “I think my father would be very happy because he was a left-arm spinner and he was working very hard on my bowling. Somehow I knew that if I kept working on my bowling, I could do something for my team. Since junior cricket, I have been bowling a lot and taking wickets and I was waiting for this opportunity.”
Abhishek Sharma wants to be like Yuvraj Singh, said- Whatever I had to do right in batting, Yuvi Paaji did it.
Sharma scored 485 runs in 10 matches at a tremendous strike rate of 192.46 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, the young player has won the trust of his team by performing well in the last few seasons of the Indian Premier League. Recently, he played a big role in Punjab’s first win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Sharma scored 485 runs in ten matches at a tremendous strike rate of 192.46. Despite this, he has not got a place in Team India yet. The opening batsman made his debut in first class cricket along with Shubman Gill. Shubhman has now become an all-format player for Team India, while Abhishek is still yet to make a mark in the scheme of things. In such a situation, the upcoming edition of IPL will be very important for them. If he scores runs with the bat in the upcoming IPL season, then he can be included in the national team in place of any senior cricketer after the T20 World Cup. Abhishek Sharma gave a big statement regarding Yuvraj Singh Meanwhile, talking about his batting technique, Sharma said that he likes to hit shots on bad balls, no matter which format he is playing. The 23-year-old said that his idol Yuvraj Singh made slight technical adjustments to his batting and said that he wanted to be like him. Abhishek Sharma was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, “The basic things are the same. In T20 you try to score runs on every ball whereas in other formats you have extra time. But I have a simple philosophy. It doesn’t matter what the format is, if a ball is there to hit, I will hit it. Whatever technical adjustments I needed were done by Yuvi Paaji.” He further said, “When I started playing cricket, he was my idol. I always wanted to be like him. I first met him in the Punjab team. Maybe he saw something in me. He always guides me. He really supports me. Whenever I am out on a low score, he always talks to me. He is always confident about my next match. After talking to me, I get a lot of encouragement. “Even off the field, no one can give better guidance than Yuvraj Singh.” Also read: Seeing Rishabh Pant’s happiness after meeting Rohit Sharma
