He also explained how this rule will not benefit Indian cricket. Rohit has given these statements while talking in a podcast. Speaking in a podcast, Rohit said, I am not very impressed with the impact rule. Impact player rule Has reduced the importance of all-rounder players. Cricket is a game of 11 players. Changes are being made to the game to make the matches more attractive. What did Rohit Sharma say on the impact player rule? Impact player rule Commenting on, Rohit said- “The new rule is not good for all-rounders like Washington Sundar and Shivam Dubey. Sundar gets fewer matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Shivam Dubey, who scored runs for Chennai Super Kings, is yet to bowl in the tournament. If you look at it from a cricket perspective, I think players like Shivam Dubey and Washington Sundar are not seen bowling, which is not a good thing for us (Indian team).” Speaking further, Rohit said- “I don’t know what this will achieve. There are 12 players playing in the match, this may be interesting for you. You pick impressive players by looking at the match situation and considering the pitch. If you bat well and do not lose wickets, then you choose a bowler which gives you the option of sixth or seventh bowler. You don’t need an extra batsman because many teams are batting well and a number seven or eight batsman will hardly come into any match.”
