In the match, KKR’s top order collapsed before the lethal bowling of Jasprit Bumrah and Nuwan Thushara. After which the 83-run partnership between Venkatesh Iyer and Manish Pandey gave the team a comeback. Batting first, Kolkata was all out for 169 runs in 19.5 overs. In response, Mumbai was all out for 145 runs in 18.5 overs while chasing the target, and KKR won by 24 runs. While chasing the target of 170 runs against Kolkata, Mumbai Indians lost 5 wickets at the score of 70. Ishan Kishan (13), Naman Dheer (11), Rohit Sharma (11), Tilak Verma (4) and Nehal Vadhera (6) were returned to the pavilion cheaply. Captain Hardik Pandya also could not show anything special and was out after scoring only 1 run. Suryakumar Yadav played the highest innings for the team of 56 runs in 35 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes. Whereas Tim David scored 24 runs in 20 balls. David lost his wicket against Mitchell Starc in the 19th over, after which Mumbai’s hopes of victory were completely dashed. For KKR, Mitchell Starc took the maximum of 4 wickets for 33 runs in 3.5 overs. Whereas Varun Chakraborty, Andre Russell and Sunil Narayan took 2-2 wickets. After this win, Kolkata Knight Riders are at second place in the points table with 14 points, the team has moved closer to the playoffs.
