“I really want to win the World Cup” – Rohit Sharma said on the question of his retirement.
India have failed to win an ICC title despite reaching the knockout stages consecutively since 2013. In the year 2023, Team India had to face defeat in two final matches against the legendary Australia. Team India suffered its first defeat in the final of the World Test Championship played in June. For the second time, Australia had defeated India in the final of the ODI World Cup. Speaking to ED Shareen and Gaurav Kapoor on the special episode of Breakfast with Champions on April 12, Rohit opened up about his future plans in his career. They said that, “I haven’t really thought about retirement. But, I don’t know where life takes you. I’m playing well at the moment too – so I’m thinking I’ll continue playing for a few more years and then, I don’t know. I really want to win the World Cup and the WTC final is in 2025, hopefully India will be successful in it.” Reflecting on India’s performance in the 2023 World Cup, Rohit revealed that the team had performed brilliantly throughout the tournament and one bad day came in the final. Hitman said that, “We played very well until that final. When we won the semi-finals, I thought, now we are just one step away. We are doing all the things right. What is the thing that can cause our defeat in the World Cup? Not a single thing came to my mind because I felt we had ticked all the boxes, we were playing good cricket.” Rohit concluded by saying, “We all had to admit a bad day and I think that was our bad day. Don’t think that we played bad cricket in that final, some things did not go our way.”

“Nitish Reddy has a special connection with CSK” – Former cricketer told a shocking thing.
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has praised Nitish Kumar Reddy for playing a match-winning innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2024. In the match played in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 9, Reddy scored 64 runs in 37 balls, thanks to this innings SRH set a target of 183 runs for PBKS. After this, Pat Cummins and Company registered a modest two-run victory by restricting Punjab to 180/6. In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Chopra was all praise for Reddy. Reddy was bought by SRH for ₹20 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction. In the match against PBKS, Nitish played a brilliant inning and brought his team out of a difficult situation and took the team to a big score. Aakash Chopra praised Nitish Reddy Chopra said, “Hyderabad’s batting faltered in the beginning. At one time it seemed that even 150 runs might be difficult. However, Nitish Reddy, he was a net bowler with Chennai till last year and won the last match by hitting a six on the last ball and here also he scored runs and scored good runs.” The former opening batsman further said, “The boy bats well. He has strength. In the first 15 years of this tournament, there were very few Indian finishers. That’s why whoever can finish gets his price skyrocketed in the auction. However, now you can look at players like Rahul Tewatia, Shivam Dubey, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, you can also put Nitish Kumar Reddy in the same list.” Along with this, Aakash Chopra also praised Abdul Samad (25 runs, 12 balls). He said, “Abdul Samad played a short innings but it was also important because going beyond 180 gives you a score worth fighting for. The big names, be it Aiden Markram, Travis Head or Heinrich Klaasen, did not score runs but the Indian players in the Hyderabad team brought the team forward.”
“The way Dubey is batting, how can you not take him in the T20 World Cup?”- Aakash Chopra
In his video, Aakash Chopra said, “I am sure it will be impossible for you not to take him for the World Cup. How can you not take that? Consider the way he is batting. Many people say that the role has a definition and is given freedom. “Whoever wants can get the freedom and show if he can hit sixes consistently.” The former opening batsman further said, “Everyone who played in this match, including Andre Russell, felt that it is very difficult to hit sixes on this pitch and it is a very big ground. There was nothing like this for Shivam Dubey. He picks the right balls and hits them. He also hits the fast bowlers in the stands, he is forcing the selectors to pick him for the World Cup.” Dubey hit three sixes and one four during his 28-run innings. The left-handed batsman is the leading run-scorer for CSK in IPL 2024 so far, with 176 runs in five innings at an impressive strike rate of 160.00.
