Addressing the Assembly on Friday, CM Reddy said that if the BCCI agrees to build an international standard stadium, the government will provide the land. Work is underway on a new sports policy, which will be presented in the next assembly session. The government is also examining the sports policy of Haryana as a possible model. To prove its commitment towards sports development, the state has allocated Rs 321 crore for sports in the 2024-25 budget. The Telangana government is also taking steps to felicitate and support its athletes. The state Cabinet has decided to allot houses of 600 square yards each to shooter Isha Singh, two-time world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen and international cricketer Mohammed Siraj.
