Cricket, the world’s second most loved sport, is also not untouched by this. Cricketers have to use language for planning and other important work before playing a match. So when players do this work, they are most comfortable in their local or mother tongue. But when they have to speak or understand a language different from this, and if they have not learned that language, then they may face difficulties. On the other hand, Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah has put forth his views on this issue. It is worth mentioning that for some time now, the coaches of Pakistan’s national cricket team have been foreigners and the current white ball coaches are Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie. Kirsten is South African while Gillespie is Australian and is more comfortable in English. On the other hand, the understanding of English by Pakistani players is well known. Also, when Naseem communicates with foreign coaches, he finds it a bit challenging. Also, to end the challenge, Naseem has talked about a language translator. Naseem Shah gave a big statement Let us tell you that in a recent press conference, Naseem Shah, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan, said – There is a language problem with foreign coaches. We need someone to translate the language. It is easier to communicate with the coach in your own language. Naseem further said about Pakistan’s performance in the World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024- Our comeback was not good and we cannot deny that we did not play good cricket. Criticism is a part of it and we should bear it until things get better. This is a good opportunity to come back, play better and perform as a team.
