Samson or Pant? Who will get the first chance in T20 World Cup? Know what Yuvi said

T20 World Cup 2024 will be organized right after the ongoing season of IPL. BCCI had announced Team India’s squad for this mega event a long time ago. India has selected two wicketkeepers (Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant) in the team for the T20 World Cup. But the question in everyone’s mind right now is who among these two will get the first chance in the playing XI. Rishabh for last many years Pant was seen as MS Dhoni’s successor as wicketkeeper across all formats. But when he retired from cricket in 2022 after a car accident, Samson’s chances increased. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain scored an ODI century against South Africa in January and has had a stellar performance in the current IPL season with 504 runs in 14 matches. Now former Team India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has expressed his opinion on this issue. While talking on ICC show, Yuvi advised to use Rishabh Pant as wicketkeeper in T-20 World Cup. He said, “I would like to go with Rishabh. Obviously Sanju is in amazing form, but Rishabh is a left-handed batsman and I think he has tremendous ability to win matches for India, which he has done before. The 2007 World T20 winning cricketer feels that the left-right batting combination makes it difficult for the bowlers. Singh favored the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, followed by Virat Kohli at No. 3 and Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4 to bat. Yuvi said that only Virat Kohli should play at number three position, while Suryakumar Yadav would be the best choice for number four. Team India will start its campaign against Ireland on June 5 in the T-20 World Cup to be held on the soil of West Indies and America.

Abhishek Sharma wants to be like Yuvraj Singh, said- Whatever I had to do right in batting, Yuvi Paaji did it.

Sharma scored 485 runs in 10 matches at a tremendous strike rate of 192.46 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, the young player has won the trust of his team by performing well in the last few seasons of the Indian Premier League. Recently, he played a big role in Punjab’s first win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Sharma scored 485 runs in ten matches at a tremendous strike rate of 192.46. Despite this, he has not got a place in Team India yet. The opening batsman made his debut in first class cricket along with Shubman Gill. Shubhman has now become an all-format player for Team India, while Abhishek is still yet to make a mark in the scheme of things. In such a situation, the upcoming edition of IPL will be very important for them. If he scores runs with the bat in the upcoming IPL season, then he can be included in the national team in place of any senior cricketer after the T20 World Cup. Abhishek Sharma gave a big statement regarding Yuvraj Singh Meanwhile, talking about his batting technique, Sharma said that he likes to hit shots on bad balls, no matter which format he is playing. The 23-year-old said that his idol Yuvraj Singh made slight technical adjustments to his batting and said that he wanted to be like him. Abhishek Sharma was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, “The basic things are the same. In T20 you try to score runs on every ball whereas in other formats you have extra time. But I have a simple philosophy. It doesn’t matter what the format is, if a ball is there to hit, I will hit it. Whatever technical adjustments I needed were done by Yuvi Paaji.” He further said, “When I started playing cricket, he was my idol. I always wanted to be like him. I first met him in the Punjab team. Maybe he saw something in me. He always guides me. He really supports me. Whenever I am out on a low score, he always talks to me. He is always confident about my next match. After talking to me, I get a lot of encouragement. “Even off the field, no one can give better guidance than Yuvraj Singh.” Also read: Seeing Rishabh Pant’s happiness after meeting Rohit Sharma
