Dinesh Karthik has come out in support of Tamil Nadu captain Sai Kishore, who faced criticism for batting in bowler-friendly conditions during the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Mumbai. Tamil Nadu coach Sulakshan Kulkarni was unhappy with the move and believed that the team had lost the match at the time of the toss.

Tamil Nadu team had reached the semi-finals after a long time. However, the team lost to the hosts in the knockout match played at the BKC Ground in Mumbai. The coach of Tamil Nadu team has blamed captain Sai Kishore for this defeat. Coach Sulakshan Kulkarni has told that the captain did not listen to him and because of this they had to face defeat.

Coach Kulkarni, while giving a statement after losing the match, had said that, we lost the semi-final at 9 am on the first day itself, because team captain Sai Kishore had decided to bat first after winning the toss. Tamil Nadu team collapsed after scoring 146 runs in the first innings. After this, Mumbai team came out to bat and lost 7 wickets for around 100 runs.

However, Shardul Thakur scored a century and took the team to 378. In this way, Mumbai got a lead of 232 runs on the basis of first innings, but Tamil Nadu team collapsed after scoring 162 runs in the second innings and lost the match by a margin of innings and 70 runs. With that win, Mumbai managed to make it to the Ranji Trophy final for the 48th time.
